Biography

It all began on a dark, stormy night...well, not quite. It was actually in grade 12 when my music teach (Mr. Bennett) wrote in my yearbook "I've always enjoyed your legal-like banter". I still have the yearbook to prove it.

The rest, as they say, is history...and for those who don't know the history, read on.

My interest in technology was kindled when my parents bought me a Vic-20. Then it was a Commodore 64. I still remember when I first heard of online gaming (sometime in the mid 80's).

After 12 years of university, 3 degrees - funded in large part through a career as a disc jockey, a stint as a commercial sea urchin diver (the ocean is very cold in the middle of January) here I am - a lawyer and trade-mark agent with the Halifax, Nova Scotia based law firm, Wickwire Holm.

My practice is centred around assisting businesses in achieving their goals and in particular, being a technophile, I have focused on matters involving intellectual property rights (such things as copyright, trade-marks and patents). I am driven in my belief that we in the Atlantic Provinces have the ability to grasp hold of the economic opportunities which technology presents.

Being one who also believes variety is the spice of life, I also practice in the area of immigration law, helping people move to Canada, bringing their experiences and energy, and building our great country.

Interests

i like sports of all types (being a competitive sort) but i really enjoy sailing and squash. i love to read, with science fiction and history being my favourites. of course, my family plays a huge role in my life and we enjoy taking walks with the dog, travelling (all too little time for that for the time being) and all the usual small enjoyments which come from being a parent.
